Dapoli - Mahabaleshwar of Konkan

Dapoli at an altitude of about 800 ft above sea level offers a real 'hug the clouds and kiss the sand' experience. The winding roads climbs up hills and pass through paddy fields to end up in pristine sandy beaches.

Murud is the most popular beach in Dapoli, a word of caution here, Please don't confuse 'Murud' - Harnai with 'Murud' - Janjira near Alibag. Though their names are similar, they are located about 100 Kms apart from each other!!

Murud beach typical of the beaches in this part of Konkan has a thin layer of white sand covering over the fine underlying black sand. The beaches are quite flat and during low tides one can walk across to the adjoining beaches like Karde or Palande!
